If your facility requires you to transport heavy or bulky materials or products then you are either using or looking to purchase a conveyor systems. Conveyors have various benefits which make them an ideal solution across a range of industries. If chosen properly, your conveyor will offer your business swift and efficient transportation of materials and products and lower production cost all while increasing productivity and efficiency.

To keep your systems running optimally, your conveyors should be regularly inspected, motors and reducers should be closely monitored, training staff and keeping parts that are susceptible to wear and tear in stock to minimize down time. However, before you can think about upkeep, you need to make sure you take the right steps to select the correct conveyor.

4 Steps to select your Conveyor

Step 1. Select a type and the number of tracks for conveyance.

  • Single Track (Flat Belt) – Broader carrying surface can convey various shapes of work pieces.
  • Dual Track (Timing Belt / Plastic Chain) – Clearance between tracks allows installation of stoppers and sensors. Two tracks are synchronously driven by the use of timing belts and engineering plastic chains.

Step 2. Drive module position

  • End Shaft Drive – The non-driven tail roller also acts as a tension roller. It is reasonably priced, and uses a smaller number of parts.
  • Center Drive – Belt tension can be adjusted at the center drive section. Overall length does not change after tension adjustment. Drive section is easily movable within the adjustment range.
  • Built-in Drive – The built-in motor between frames minimizes space requirement.

Step 3. Select a motor

  • Induction Motor – Motor with constant speed: Suitable for the continuous one-way operation. Also usable for intermittent operation with relatively long intervals.
  • Variable Speed Motor – Variable Speed Motor: Includes control box used to adjust conveyance speed. Control box is not fixed on the conveyor and can be installed for your purpose.

Step 4. Specify the width and length (See Image)
